The Best Abdominal Exercise

Reality versus Wishful-Thinking

Judging by the vast numbers of books, magazine articles, courses, mechanical contraptions and videos on the market, half the world seems to want the best of abdominal exercises.  Or so it seems.  The other half is doing it’s best to find an easy alternative to hard exercise via diets, electronic gadgets, pills and potions. 

Either way, it requires effort.

But no matter what extravagant claims are made there are only two methods that actually work.  As usual, the two methods are diet and abdominal exercises as part of a fitness program.  So, it doesn’t matter whether your aim is to look good or to get fit.  Achieving a healthy, sleek look will make you fitter.  Likewise, becoming fitter will give you a better and sleeker look.

Diet

Some commentators never seem to tire of pointing out that a great set of abdominal muscles will be more or less invisible if under a layer of fat.  As a result, the key thing is to make sure that you eat right to rid yourself of this unwanted layer. 

But that’s only half of the story.  Because shedding body fat only reveals a nice muscular tone if there are nice muscles to be revealed.  This is why both diet and an exercise program are critical.

Diet means eating right rather than being ‘on a diet’ in the sense of restricting your calorie intake dramatically.  Naturally, if you are consuming way too many calories you really need to get that under control.  But before starting a limited calorie diet you might want to take a look at another articles on this website, Diet Voodoo.

Fortunately, exercise helps you eat right and eating right helps you exercise.

Exercise

Shedding body fat by eating right and exercising is critical both for your health in general and for your waistline in particular.  Sadly, losing body fat is indiscriminate.  That is, fat loss will be achieved from the body as a whole rather than from a targeted area such as the stomach or anywhere else.

What this means is that it’s not possible to ‘spot’ reduce.  But you can ‘spot’ exercise.

The right exercise will achieve this by means of directed muscle firming and toning exercises and workouts.  In fact, these can make you look thinner even without losing fat by tightening your mid-section and improving your posture.  In practice, Fitnessblasting often combines fat burning and muscle building exercises rather than keep them separate.

Thinness Isn’t Always Healthy

Muscle building is critical because muscle takes up less space that fat.  Muscle also looks better and burns calories even when not being exercised.  This means that exercises for the abdominal area will give a trimmer and firm appearance rather than a soggy-saggy look.  They also hold the body better as well as enhance your level of fitness and strength.

Probably the best single stomach exercise is the Blaster Ab-Squeeze.

Blaster Ab-Squeeze

As you will immediately notice, the basic Blaster Ab-Squeeze really works the abs.  It also works the lungs, arms, shoulders, chest, back and buttocks in a big way.  Even on a cold day, the effort of the Blaster Ab-Squeeze can really warm you up.

You can even do it without getting out of bed!

The basic Blaster Ab-Squeeze goes like this:

  1. Stand with feet about shoulder width apart, arms at sides.
  2. Inhale to maximum and hold for 5 seconds.
  3. Clench fists tightly.
  4. Blast-out all air, squeeze abdominal muscles hard, squeeze buttocks together hard.
  5. Make sure that abs, buttocks, chest muscles and fists are all gripping tightly, very tightly.
  6. Think ABC & F, go through the list - Abs, Buttocks, Chest and Fists.  Grip tight!
  7. Hold for 3-5 seconds, make sure all air blasted out.
  8. Relax, breathe-in to max again, raising fists above head, hold for 5 seconds.
  9. Blast-Out again, lower arms, squeeze ABC & F.
  10. Repeat 10-20 times.

For a nice variation you might like to try the last ten repetitions with your hands on hips pressing hard against them on the Blast-out.

The beauty of the Blaster Ab-Squeeze is not only that it is a tremendous workout for your mid-section, but you can do it practically anywhere and every day, unless you are ill. 

As with other Fitnessblasting exercises, no weights or machines are used.  Your own body is provides an ample basis for a series of extremely effective exercises for muscle development and all-round fitness.

What Else Can Fitnessblasting Do For Abs?
